CORONA VIRUS UPDATE 10/04/20
Salisbury Friends have successfully been able to join in two successive online Sunday Meetings for Worship with other members of our Area Meeting arranged by AM using ZOOM. We have also used ZOOM to hold an Eldership and Oversight Meeting and a Spiritual Friendship group. We hope to use it for other online activities. We appreciate that not all Friends may be able to or wish to use this resource.
CORONA VIRUS UPDATE 20/03/20
Following the latest advice Salisbury Friends have reluctantly made the decision to stop gathering at the Meeting House for Meeting for Worship until further notice. This applies to Sundays and Wednesdays.
All study groups and other face to face meetings will also stop until further notice.
The Government advice issued on Monday urged everyone to limit their face to face social contact, including gatherings large and small in public spaces. A number of Quaker Meetings had already decided to stop Meeting for Worship and some had closed their Meeting Houses. Now most, if not all, Quaker Meetings in the UK will be joining other denominations and faith groups in ceasing public acts of worship.
We would like to suggest that Friends continue to 'set aside times of quiet for openness to the Holy Spirit' (Advices and Queries no 3) and also that we hold on to our usual times of corporate worship, sitting quietly in our own homes for all or part of the hour from 10.30 am on Sundays and/or the half hour from 12.30 pm on Wednesdays in the knowledge that other local Friends are doing the same.
There are ways we could organise a virtual Meeting for Worship using on-line technology.
It is something that Woodbrooke has done for a number of years. There is a link to Woodbrooke's on-line worship below if you would like to try joining them.
Please continue to keep in touch with each other by phone, email, skype etc, to minimise social isolation.

SOME PAST EVENTS
We hosted a peace event during Armed Forces Day on 29th June 2019.
A report on this by Kathrine Sealey can be read on the Quakers in Britain website here
Salisbury’s first Repair Café was launched at the Meeting House on Saturday 2nd November 2019.
It was very well attended and, while not a Quaker instigated event, will help to raise the profile of Salisbury Quaker Meeting.
Repair Cafés are free meeting places for repairing things rather than 'binning' them.
